Once you've locked in your blocks, you can't change them on your own — that would be a back door. To propose new times or days, you submit a request that your buddy decides on. Same cooldown, same approval flow as an unblock.
1. Open Settings → Blocks
Each row in the Blocks card (Block window, Active days) is tappable.
2. Tap the row you want to change
The propose-a-change sheet opens with your current values pre-filled. Edit the times or toggle the days.
3. Write a reason
Same as an unblock request — specific reasons land, vague ones get questioned. "I want to extend the evening block by an hour, last week I caught myself doom-scrolling until 1am" is the kind of thing your buddy will approve. "want more flexibility" probably isn't.
4. Wait, your buddy decides
You'll see the same "Hold on..." cooldown screen. Once the cooldown clears, your buddy gets a push notification with the proposed diff (old window → new window, old days → new days). They tap Approve or Deny.
If approved, the new window or days takes effect immediately on your phone. The shield re-applies based on the new settings.
What about changing the blocked apps?
You can't propose changes to the actual app list this way. The Family Activity Picker only works on your own device, so we can't ask your buddy to "approve" a list they can't see.
To change the apps, the workaround is: switch your role to Key Holder (which needs buddy approval), edit the apps, then switch back to Blocker. This is friction by design — the app list is the core contract.
Can I tighten the block without buddy approval?
Not yet. Today every change goes through approval. We're considering letting Blockers tighten (e.g. shorten the unblock hours, add a day) without approval, since tightening can't be abused — but it's not shipped. For now, all changes go through your buddy.
